about
One of the last songs sung, played, written and recorded solely by Neil in his front room before his untimely and sudden death on 14th November 2014.
Neil Blenkinsop aged 54, husband, father, musician, artist and clinician, lost his life within two days of diagnosis of a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer, called Cholangiocarcinoma.
All proceeds from this track to go to The Neil Blenkinsop Foundation raising funding for research into Cholangiocarcinoma, set up by his wife Amora Jo.
lyrics
welcome the night in
welcome the night in
with open arms
and tighten
your grip on reason
calm and easy
down on your knees
and surrender
welcome the night in
with neon stories
to lighten
your daytime dreaming,
doors are leading to unknown
fields and remember
the stars kiss the darkness high overhead
explore them for ever maybe
but sleep is still sweet without dreaming
welcome the night in
with velvet shadows
to brighten
the moonlight streaming over all this
from skies of may or december
the stars kiss the darkness high overhead
explore them for ever maybe
but sleep is still sweet without dreaming

As you might guess from the title, this is strange and eerie synth music meant to conjure a mystical film where all is not what it seems. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 14, 2023
